HOD’s Message

The Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities forms the cornerstone of every engineering student’s academic journey at Don Bosco Institute of Technology. We strive to build a strong foundation that prepares our first-year students not only to excel as engineers but also to grow as responsible, compassionate, and socially aware individuals—the true essence of the Don Bosco Way of learning.

Our team of dedicated and experienced faculty members is committed to nurturing students through a balanced approach that integrates academics, skill development, and holistic growth. Alongside core subjects, students actively participate in mentoring programs, field visits, sustainability projects, and various cultural and sports activities that foster teamwork, creativity, and leadership.

The department focuses on the four pillars of engineering education—Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, and Communication Skills—delivered through a blend of lectures, practicals, and tutorials. To enhance learning outcomes, we make extensive use of Moodle, our online Learning Management System, which enables interactive teaching, resource sharing, and continuous student assessment.

To ensure overall development, the department organizes diverse events and initiatives under various clubs, providing students with ample opportunities to explore technical knowledge, cultural interests, and sportsmanship. Our objective is to promote a hands-on and practical approach to learning that helps students discover their potential, develop confidence, and refine their communication and problem-solving skills in alignment with industry standards.

At both the departmental and institutional levels, we continually strive to provide the best facilities and learning environment for our budding technocrats. Our well-equipped laboratories and student-centric activities encourage learning beyond the syllabus, ensuring that every student is well-prepared to become a competent and ethical engineer of the future.
